Why Urban Index?
Our project is to design a unique platform that helps anyone settle in a new country.
Urban Index is dedicated to travelers, students and professionals coming to a new country without knowing the details of how to settle.
We know it can be difficult, we have done it ourselves multiple times. Dealing with admin in a foreign language, finding housing, a job, avoiding scams, there was no universal guide that provides this information, until now.

This is the first version of our website, giving you the most important information to get in touch with us, especially if you’re a company looking for help to have your employees settle in France.
Soon, a new version will be released with dedicated articles, gamified and personalized paths and lots of new features.

Recruiting skilled and motivated professionals is getting more and more difficult. Companies compete to offer the best working conditions and packages to fulfill their candidates' wishes.
What do we offer?
Lunch & Learn
An onboarding session to introduce your employees to France and give them the necessary tips to navigate the country.
Over the course of 1 hour, we cover topics as diverse as housing (how to rent and to avoid scams...), health (getting a carte vitale, parcours de soin...) or taxes.
- The presentation is followed by a Q&A
- Topics can be tailored to your needs
- Presentation can be on site or remote
Workshops
We host workshops for your employees. One topic will be covered during the session and employees will be able to ask all of their questions
The workshop lasts up to 2 hours and topics can range from taxes (how to get a fiscal number) to admin (requesting a Social Security Number) or another subject that is relevant to your employees.

Social Groups
A group chat will be set up for your company. On this group, employees can get in touch with us and ask their questions. We’ll answer them and refer them to our relevant resources.
Your employees will also access our general group and be able to get in touch with a community of expats willing to share their experiences and tips about settling and living in France.

Juliette
Juliette was born in Berlin and grew up as a third culture kid all over before moving to the UK for her studies, and then France in 2015.
Both times, settling in England and again in France, sparked the idea for this website. Not having a complete resource with instructions and answers.
From dangerous landlords to fake working contracts, getting utterly lost in administration or landing dead-end internships, Juliette has experienced it and is now dedicated to help others like her avoid the same traps.

Amaury
Amaury is the French component of the team, he was born in Paris and has lived there for 15 years. He has worked in France (Paris and Toulouse), the UK and in Qatar.
During his experiences abroad, he was confronted with the classic issues of an expat like opening a bank account, making sure you have health insurance...

Sam
Sam is originally from the UK and has lived in the Netherlands, Germany and France. In Paris since 2018, he has worked as an Au Pair, Recruiter and now as a Web Developer.
When he's not in front of a computer screen you can find him on a bicycle in the streets of Paris.
Having moved many times and dealt with the post-Brexit visa process, he loved the idea of providing a thorough resource to help people navigate the challenges of discovering a new country!
